UNIZA Promotes Science to the Public at the European Researchers’ NightOn Friday, 25 September 2026, the University of Žilina (UNIZA) participated in the 20th anniversary edition of the European Researchers’ Night, Europe’s largest science communication event, once again engaging the public with research, technological developments and innovation. This year’s theme, The Power of Science: How Can We Shape Our Future?, provided a platform for exploring current scientific advances and discussing the challenges facing contemporary society. The programme addressed key issues of the 21st century, including information, artificial intelligence, freedom of decision-making, space, innovation and sustainability. UNIZA actively contributed to the event through interactive presentations and participated with exhibits at 30 science stands in Žilina, Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice and Poprad. Dozens of academic and professional staff members and doctoral candidates from almost all university faculties and departments were involved in the preparation and delivery of the festival. Visitors, particularly young people, had the opportunity to engage with science through interactive activities, ask questions and gain insights into how research and innovation shape everyday life. First-Hand Experiences, Practical Advice and Inspiration at the Erasmus+ TALK EventOn Tuesday, 13 October 2026, as part of the pan-European Erasmus Days, the Erasmus+ TALK event took place in the cafeteria at the Rector’s Office of the University of Žilina (UNIZA). Over the course of two hours, the event introduced UNIZA students to the opportunities available through international mobility programmes. This popular discussion format provided a platform for students who had previously participated in international mobility to share their experiences, insights and practical advice. Participants learned more about the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme, preparations for an international stay, studying, traineeships and volunteering abroad, as well as everyday life in another country. The programme also featured presentations by colleagues from the Erasmus+ Office, who outlined the key steps involved in applying for and participating in international mobility. The PIONEER Alliance was also introduced, highlighting further opportunities for international cooperation available to students. Erasmus+ TALK therefore provided participants not only with valuable information but also with inspiration and encouragement to pursue new academic and personal opportunities abroad.
