Vedu a výskum na UNIZA vystriedali športové výkony a tímový duch

Dňa 11. septembra 2025 sa v areáli UNIZA uskutočnil už 14. ročník Športového dňa rektora UNIZA. Tradičné podujatie, ktoré každoročne organizuje Ústav telesnej výchovy UNIZA opäť potvrdilo, že naša univerzita kladie dôraz nielen na odborný a profesionálny rast svojich zamestnancov, ale aj na ich zdravie, fyzickú kondíciu a tímového ducha. Podujatia sa zúčastnilo viac ako 300 športuchtivých zamestnancov a doktorandov UNIZA, ktorí si zasúťažili v mnohých tradičných aj netradičných disciplínach. Víťazom Putovný pohár rektora po roku opäť obhájil tím rektorátu, tesne pred tímom z FPEDAS. Na 3. mieste sa umiestnil tím z FEIT. Tešíme sa na športové zážitky opäť o rok!

Sporting Feats and Team Spirit Took over UNIZA's Science and Research

On 11 September 2025, the UNIZA campus hosted the 14^th annual UNIZA Rector's Sports Day. This traditional event, held every year by the UNIZA Institute of Physical Education, once again proved that professional growth is not the only thing our university cares about – it also tends to their health, physical condition, and team spirit. More than 300 passionate sports enthusiasts from the ranks of UNIZA employees and PhD students participated in the event, competing in various traditional and unconventional disciplines. The winner of the Rector's Challenge Cup was once again the team of the Rector's Office, just ahead of the team from the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications. The team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology came in third. We are looking forward to more sporting experiences next year!

Slávnostné otvorenie 73. akademického roka a oslava 50 rokov výučby pilotov

UNIZA v pondelok 22. septembra slávnostné vstúpila do 73. akademického roka 2025/2026. Podujatie za prítomnosti významných hostí vrátane zástupcov mesta Žilina a ŽSK sa nieslo nielen v duchu akademickej tradície, ale aj s dôrazom na vízie, ktoré univerzitu posúvajú vpred. Rektor UNIZA, profesor Ján Čelko, vo svojom príhovore predstavil hlavné míľniky uplynulého obdobia a kľúčové zmeny, ktoré UNIZA realizuje vo všetkých hlavných oblastiach. Súčasťou slávnosti bolo aj odhalenie jedného z prvých lietadiel univerzity z roku 1975, ktoré sa stalo novou dominantou vstupnej haly hlavnej budovy UNIZA. Tento symbolický akt pripomenul 50. výročie vzdelávania študentov v špecializácii pilot.

Ceremonial Opening of the 73^rd Academic Year and Celebration of 50 Years of Pilot Training

On Monday, 22 September, UNIZA ceremoniously entered its 73rd academic year 2025/2026. The event, attended by distinguished guests including representatives of the city of Žilina and the Žilina Self-Governing Region, reflected the academic tradition but also emphasised the visions that drive the university forward. In his speech, the rector of UNIZA, Professor Ján Čelko, outlined the main milestones of the past term and the key changes that UNIZA is implementing in all major areas. The ceremony was accompanied by the unveiling of one of the university's first aircraft from 1975, which has become a new highlight of the entrance hall in the main UNIZA building. This symbolic act commemorated the 50^th anniversary of providing education to future pilots.

UNIZA ako príklad dobrej praxe v prestížnom transatlantickom reporte IIE a DAAD

Prestížny report o transatlantickej mobilite medzi Európou a USA, vydaný Nemeckou akademickou výmennou službou (DAAD) a Inštitútom medzinárodného vzdelávania (IIE), oficiálne označil Žilinskú univerzitu za príklad dobrej praxe v oblasti akademickej spolupráce medzi Slovenskom a USA. Report bol predstavený 11. septembra 2025 počas konferencie EAIE v Göteborgu, na ktorom sa zúčastnila aj delegácia z UNIZA. Hlavným pilierom spolupráce je štipendijný program medzi UNIZA a UC Berkeley - College of Engineering, ktorý už od roku 2017 umožňuje študentom a mladým výskumníkom zo Slovenska pôsobiť na jednej z najlepších technických univerzít sveta.

UNIZA Listed as an Example of Good Practice in a Prestigious Transatlantic Report by IIE and DAAD

A prestigious report on transatlantic mobility between Europe and the US, published by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Institute of International Education (IIE), officially named the University of Žilina as an example of good practice in academic cooperation between Slovakia and the US. The report was presented on 11 September 2025 during the EAIE conference in Gothenburg, attended by a delegation from UNIZA. The cornerstone of the cooperation is the scholarship programme between UNIZA and UC Berkeley – College of Engineering, which has enabled students and young researchers from Slovakia to study at one of the world's best technical universities since 2017.
